Cryotherapy

removal of surface skin lesions

What is Cryotherapy?

The term ‘Cryotherapy’ means ‘treatment using low temperature. It refers to the removal of surface skin lesions by freezing them. Here at The Aesthetics Skin and Laser Clinic we use a CryoPen.

What conditions can be treated?

Cryotherapy is a versatile treatment for numerous non-cancerous (benign) skin lesions. It’s particularly effective for sun-damaged areas on sun-exposed skin, as well as for treating viral warts, skin tags, moles, redness, and spider veins.

What does the procedure involve?

Cryotherapy is carried out by Sarah, a qualified nurse prescriber with over  two decades of experience. Performed at the luxurious Aesthetics Skin and Laser Clinic, cryotherapy involves applying liquid nitrogen to the skin using a Cryopen. This delivers a precise, controlled amount at very low temperatures (-90 degrees Celsius), instantly freezing and destroying unwanted cells upon contact.

What to expect after a Cyrotherapy session?

After Cryotherapy treatment, the affected area typically begins to crust over within days and gradually flakes off or heals naturally over a few weeks. Some swelling and redness may occur immediately after treatment, but this usually subsides within a couple of days.
